Verheiratete (German Potato Dish with Flour Dumplings, Bacon, and Applesauce)

- 1½ eggs
- 125 ml sparkling water

In a bowl, mix flour, eggs, and sparkling water with a wooden spoon. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.

- 350 g potatoes

Use a spoon to form smaller parts of the dough into dumplings. Add to the pot and let them simmer for 5 minutes. Peel potatoes, cut into thicker sticks, and let them boil in salted water until they are done.

- 75 g smoked bacon
- 100 ml heavy cream

Peel and dice onions. Dice smoked bacon and fry in a pan. Slightly braise the onions in the same pan. Deglaze with heavy cream and season to taste.

Drain potatoes and flour dumplings. Layer cooked potato sticks and flour dumplings alternately on a plate. Pour the bacon cream sauce over the mixture and serve with apple sauce.
