"My Grandma has been making this recipe for years (although I am unsure of where it has originated from) and it has always been popular with the family. You can substitute the glacé cherries with walnuts or chunks of chocolate."

vanilla extract

cherries

water
9⅝ g
caster sugar

    • tsp baking soda
    • tsp salt
    • sieve

    Preheat oven to 170*C. Sieve together flour, baking soda and salt into a bowl.

    • 4⅞ g margarine
    • tbsp water
    • 9⅝ g caster sugar
    • saucepan

    In a saucepan, combine margarine, sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.

    • 14⅛ g chocolate bars
    • tsp vanilla extract

    Draw saucepan off heat, add chocolate and vanilla extract. Stir until melted

    • eggs
    • 2⅓ g cherries

    Beat in eggs, one at a time. Stir in flour mixture and glacé cherries.

  • Step 5/5

    Pour into greased pan. Place into oven and bake for 20minutes. Allow to cool then cut into pieces.
