2 saucepans, wooden spoon, blender, bowl, 2 spaghetti spoon, colander, plate

  • Step 1/ 5

    • 500 g ground beef
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 tsp pepper
    • nonstick cooking spray
    • 1 pinch oregano
    • saucepan
    • wooden spoon

    Apply a generous amount of cooking spray to a pan. Around 5-10 sprays. Season the ground beef(minced beef) with salt, pepper and a pinch of oregano. Then brown the mince in the pan over a medium heat.

    • 800 g canned crushed tomatoes
    • 1 tbsp oregano
    • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
    • 1 tbsp salt
    • 1 tsp pepper
    • ½ tsp basil
    • blender

    While the mince is browning in a mixing bowl add the balsamic vinegar, canned tomatoes, salt, pepper, oregano and basil. Blend until you have a smooth texture.

    • 1 tbsp tomato purée (passata)
    • 1 tbsp basil
    • 1 tbsp parsley

    Once the mince is browned and the tomato sauce blended poor the sauce into the sauce pan with the mince and bring to a simmer. Add the remaining basil and parsley and add the tomato purée. Stir and once at a simmer Reduce the heat to a low temperature and cover. Simmer for 10 minutes covered then 10 minutes uncovered stirring occasionally.

    • 250 g spaghetti
    • 1 pinch salt
    • saucepan

    • colander

    Once the sauce is simmering fill a sauce pan with water and bring to a boil. Add salt and the spaghetti to the pan and reduce the heat to low. Cover and leave to simmer until spaghetti is al dente. Drain the spaghetti in a colander and leave for around 2 minutes.

    Once the spaghetti is drained the sauce should look relatively thick. Add the spaghetti to a heated plate and then pour over the bolognese sauce. Add cheese and seasoning to taste then serve.
