"This recipe has been in my family since WW2. Also known as Gravy Cake, this dish is best served with a roast dinner and covered in gravy. It tastes a bit like a dumpling but in slice form. Great with a Leg of Lamb or a Beef Joint."

mixed herbs

- 15 g onions

Chop the onion
Step 2/ 5
- 55 g flour
- 3¾ g baking powder

Sieve the Flour and Baking Powder into a mixing bowl.
Step 3/ 5
- 27½ g butter
Rub the Butter into the Flour
Step 4/ 5
- 62½ ml milk
- ¼ tbsp mixed herbs
- ⅛ tsp salt
- ⅛ tsp pepper
Add the onions, mixed herbs and milk into the bowl and stir. Add salt and pepper for taste.

Pour mixture into a greased cake tin and bake in the oven for 35 mins at Gas mark 4 or 350,°F
