Ingredients

sugar
¼ tsp
bicarbonate of soda
40 g
self raising flour
37½ g
salted butter

Utensils

6 whisks, sieve

  • Step 1/9

    preheat the oven to 180° (gas mark 4)

  • Step 2/9

    • ¾ eggs
    • 62½ g sugar
    • whisk

    beat the eggs and sugar together until smooth

  • Step 3/9

    • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
    • 31¼ ml sunflower oil
    • whisk

    add vanilla extract and oil together in the mix, keep mixing until light yellow colour

  • Step 4/9

    • ¼ tsp bicarbonate of soda
    • whisk

    eventually, add the bicarbonate of soda into the mix (make sure to mix well!)

  • Step 5/9

    • 40 g self raising flour
    • sieve
    • whisk

    sift the flour into the mix and continue mixing until smooth once again

  • Step 6/9

    • 37½ g salted butter
    • whisk

    melt the butter on a saucepan, then add into the batter

  • Step 7/9

    • ¼ orange
    • whisk

    juice and zest the orange, adding it into the mix

  • Step 8/9

    using extra amounts of butter, oil the loaf tin, along with dusting it with flour afterwards

  • Step 9/9

    pour the mix into the tin and put in the oven!
