"Many people don't know that sweet potatoes are actually not related to potatoes. Although they share the same name and general appearance, the sweet potato belongs to the bindweed family, while the conventional potato is a nightshade. As a result, making mashed sweet potatoes is also slightly different from what you might know. In our video how-to recipe above, we’ll show you how to bake the sweet potatoes in the oven first and then, with the help of a few spices, a potato masher, and a little muscle power, whip up a deliciously creamy, bright-orange side dish."
