Skyr yoghurt faces shortage: TikTok trends bottleneck suppliers

The Icelandic yoghurt Skyr has been on high demand lately. This is due to a few TikTok trends that require good quality, usually high protein and low fat yoghurt. Skyr checks all of these boxes, hence the demand rises, but production suffers. 

What food trends are popular with yoghurt now?

The latest, big pairing Skyr has gotten is the energy drink yogurt cocktail. Trend basically calls for a type of energy drink (usually White Monster, or sugar free Monster) to be mixed with Skyr yogurt. In a one on one ratio, the two are mixed (as seen here with this creator @maxxpane), and it provides an energy and protein shake. 

Another foodie trend that was quite popular was the no bake cheesecake, also known as Japanese cheesecake. This recipe was made by inserting cookies into a tub of yogurt and letting it rest overnight to enjoy it after. 

There are still some precautions to be taken into account for the yogurt and energy drink trend though, since there is a lot of caffeine in the final shake, it should still be consumed responsibly.
