Pollotarianism: An almost plant based diet except for poultry
What exactly is a pollotarian diet? Is it healthier than the rest?
Today, there are many diets one can follow; vegetarian, vegan, pescetarian, flexitarian, and now pollotarian. The best way to understand a pollotarian diet is to start with a vegetarian one. One can imagine a pollotarian diet is almost absolutely plant based, with the exception of poultry.
That means, keeping the dishes plant based, but allowing meats like chicken, turkey, or duck to be incorporated.
What can you have on a pollotarian diet?
Essentially, a pollotarian can have poultry products like chicken, duck, turkey, or more. The rest of the diet is plant based, and it prohibits the use of red meat and fish/sea food.
It can be considered a “half-vegetarian” state for a diet. Though it can also be considered to be a cheaper, and slightly healthier diet. Replacing expensive and cholesterol inducing red meat with either plant based options, or poultry can have a high in protein and a more “clean” substitute in the end.
