At 50, Jamie Oliver looks back on a culinary career that few others can match. His passion for good food started early – in the kitchen of his parents’ pub in Clavering, England.

What began with small tasks soon led him to London’s renowned River Café and eventually to international fame: In 1999, he became a TV star with The Naked Chef – casual, relatable, and a refreshing contrast to the traditional fine-dining world.

Activist, Author, All-rounder

From the beginning, Jamie Oliver used his media presence to drive social change. With shows like Jamie’s School Dinners and Jamie’s Food Revolution, he publicly campaigned for healthier school meals and became a role model for many. His now more than 20 cookbooks follow the same mission: to inspire people with simple, everyday-friendly recipes – a vision Kitchen Stories wholeheartedly shares.

Amidst it all, Jamie even found time to visit our Berlin office: In 2022, we cooked and laughed together as he shared his must-have kitchen tools and ingredients. Later, our creative team visited him in London, and for Kitchen Stories’ 10th anniversary, he surprised us with a homemade cake on social media.

Between Setbacks and Fresh Starts

Despite all his success, Jamie Oliver hasn’t been without setbacks. In 2019, his restaurant chain Jamie’s Italian had to file for insolvency – a turning point, but not a defeat. Instead, he focused on new projects, published more cookbooks, and opened new restaurants, including one at London’s Theatre Royal.

A role model that continues to inspire

Over the past 25 years, Jamie Oliver has helped shape the modern food world.

With his passion and commitment to healthy eating, he remains an inspiring figure. All that’s left to say: Happy Birthday – and to wait and see what’s next for him.
