Germany loved 1,7 million tonnes worth of pre-made food in 2024

Fast meals made at home have been gaining popularity year by year in Germany, and in 2024, 1,7 million tons worth of almost 6 billion euros worth of ready-made food was produced. Almost all frozen and ready made food categories have seen the rise. The Federal Statistical Office revealed the numbers to have an increase of up to 56 percent in production. 

What are the most popular ready-made foods in Germany?

In 2024, the most produced ready to eat meals were pasta dishes with the highest rise in percentage (56.4 percent). The popularity carried over to meat dishes (43 percent), followed by vegetable dishes (7.2 percent). The category of food that didn’t have the same popularity is sea food. Fish dishes have seen a drop of 7.2 percent in 2024 for production. 

The same rise can already be observed for 2025, as the data from the first quarter of the year stands to prove it. The data for the rest of the year is yet to be released but it will surely tell consumers and producers alike about consumption habits and production value of ready-made meals.
