The average rate for frozen food consumption went from just 600 grams to 50 kilograms per capita within Germany. This means almost every household has consumed frozen food goods one way or another.

What is the most popular frozen food?

The most popular frozen food consumers went for has been frozen pizza, which may not be a shock to many readers. In 2024, frozen pizza sales reached a stomping 395,000 tons in sales, which is already 4,5 percent higher than the previous year.

The following popular food groups include French fries (and many more potato products), fish, bread rolls, and fruit.  

Frozen food industry after the pandemic

Although the start of the pandemic was tough for the frozen food industry, it has started seeing a good profit margin since 2021. Especially today, the demanding rush of everyday life, especially with homes with children, are turning to the frozen food isles to at least save the time on preparing a fresh meal each day, and take a breath instead!
