In South Korea, specifically in Seoul, a new pop up has appeared in the last month; strangers meeting to eat towers and towers of french fries together at a McDonald’s. The trend roots back to 2013, when a group of strangers did the same after a convention. Today, the trend has swapped the new generation off their potato loving feet!

Essentially, these groups of strangers meet, order towers of fries, exchange stories, talk about anything and everything, then go their separate ways! No further bonding, drama, nor any strings attached. Participants only share and reveal what they feel comfortable with and simply just eat fries and listen otherwise.

There are some participants who only attend for the french fries as well. This is still a desirable participation in a group of four, because the biggest common ground everyone shares is the ultimate love for fries. You can read even more about the trend in this Korean Times article, where it is explained in detail, and connected to other Korean trends.
