Are you eating your oatmeal wrong? Here’s what to avoid
Don’t make these oatmeal mistakes
Oatmeal is a go-to meal base for many, and its versatility is one of the biggest reasons for it. Savory, sweet, prepared ahead, healthy, and more! However there are some common mistakes with oatmeal that do more harm than good. To avoid this healthy meal turning into a secret hazard, there are a few points to keep in mind.
What mistakes are commonly made with oats?
To begin with, choosing good oatmeal is essential. While always going for the brands you trust, also refrain from buying ready made ones that wait on the shelves for long with an unhealthy amount of preservatives in them.
Then, choose your toppings carefully: Fresh fruits, protein, and low carbs should be the main components of your oat bowl. Dried fruits add, once again, additives that contain too much sugar and up the calories. Use your own trail mix for nuts and try not to have components or food items that are ready made. Also, using milk instead of water adds one more layer of protein, and keeps you full for longer.
Lastly, keep the proportions in mind! Nothing is good for the body in excess amounts and oatmeal is no exception. Portion the meal properly to what you need instead of filling the stomach up with oatmeal to keep you full for most of the day. That’s a carb shock for the body and imbalances appetite and digestion for the whole day.
All in all, keeping everything in the oatmeal bowl fresh and moderate is the key to enjoying the popular ingredient to the fullest.
