Ingredients

1 cup rice
2 cups water
2 cups nondairy milk
½ cup brown sugar
cinnamon stick OR equivalent ground cinnamon
½ tsp vanilla extract

  • strainer
  • blender
  • Step 1/4

    • 1 cup rice
    • 2 cups water
    • pitcher
    • strainer

    Rinse rice. Put it in a pitcher and let soak for 1 hour.

  • Step 2/4

    • 2 cups nondairy milk
    • ½ cup brown sugar
    • cinnamon stick OR equivalent ground cinnamon
    • ½ tsp vanilla extract
    • blender

    Pour water and rice into blender. Add milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Blend for 2 minutes.

  • Step 3/4

    Pour horchata into pitcher through strainer.

  • Step 4/4

    Add ice and serve.
