“if you’re not big into oatmeal, maybe try it savory! it’s reminiscent of congee or other savory porridges. add whatever vegetables or fat or liquid or herbs or spices you like, but this is what i did!”

Ingredients

½ cup rolled oat
⅓ cup mixed mushrooms
¼ cup onion
1 tbsp pistachio
1 tbsp butter
½ cup milk
½ cup water

    • ⅓ cup mixed mushrooms
    • ¼ cup onion
    • knife
    • saucepan

    chop vegetables and sweat in a small saucepan until they lose their liquid

  • Step 2/5

    • 1 tbsp pistachio
    • 1 tbsp butter

    chop pistachios and add them and remaining butter to the pan when the vegetables begin to brown

  • Step 3/5

    • ½ cup rolled oat

    add oats and coat in butter

  • Step 4/5

    • ½ cup milk
    • ½ cup water

    add liquids and cook according the the oats’ instructions

  • Step 5/5

    serve with sour cream or labneh or cheese
