"I encountered this simple dish a few times in Italy, served as an appetizer or as a side dish (contorni). It’s best when fresh and crusty. Not to be mistaken with focaccia."

Ingredients

½ kg
flour
3 tbsp
olive oil
2 tsp
salt
1⅓ tsp
sugar
2 tsp
active dry yeast
240 ml
water (lukewarm)
2 clove
garlic
1 tbsp
olive oil (for sprinkling)
dried oregano

  • Step 1/10

    • ½ kg flour
    • 2 tsp active dry yeast
    • 1⅓ tsp sugar
    • 2 tsp active dry yeast

    Mix flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a bowl.

  • Step 2/10

    Add the lukewarm water to the mixture while you knead it, until you got a slightly dry dough.

  • Step 3/10

    Add the olive oil to the dough and knead it into it, until you have an oily and little bit sticky pizza dough.

  • Step 4/10

    Rest the dough for 30 minutes.

  • Step 5/10

    Preheat oven to 240 C.

  • Step 6/10

    The dough should have risen by now. Knead it again and form it into a ball.

  • Step 7/10

    Roll out the dough, form it into a disk.

  • Step 8/10

    Put the disc to a pizza baking sheet. Sprinkle some oregano and thinly sliced garlic on top (optional).

  • Step 9/10

    Put the pizza into the oven for about 10 minutes.

  • Step 10/10

    Sprinkle some olive oil on top before serve.

  • Enjoy your meal!
