“I encountered this simple dish a few times in Italy, served as an appetizer or as a side dish (contorni). It’s best when fresh and crusty. Not to be mistaken with focaccia.”

Ingredients

Pieces:-1+
¼ kg flour
1½ tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
⅔ tsp sugar
1 tsp active dry yeast
120 ml water (lukewarm)
1 clove garlic
½ tbsp olive oil (for sprinkling)
dried oregano

    • ¼ kg flour
    • 1 tsp active dry yeast
    • ⅔ tsp sugar
    • 1 tsp active dry yeast

    Mix flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a bowl.

  • Step 2/10

    Add the lukewarm water to the mixture while you knead it, until you got a slightly dry dough.

  • Step 3/10

    Add the olive oil to the dough and knead it into it, until you have an oily and little bit sticky pizza dough.

    Rest the dough for 30 minutes.

    Preheat oven to 240 C.

    The dough should have risen by now. Knead it again and form it into a ball.

    Roll out the dough, form it into a disk.

    Put the disc to a pizza baking sheet. Sprinkle some oregano and thinly sliced garlic on top (optional).

    Put the pizza into the oven for about 10 minutes.

    Sprinkle some olive oil on top before serve.
