"It is a very simple and quick recipe that you can customise as you wish. For example you can replace the shrimps by scallops, crab or even chicken. You can also change the ratio of salty/sweet/spicy by modifying the amounts of soy sauce, honey and pepper. And of course you can use any noodles you like. Finally you could even make this recipe gluten-free by using rice noodles or shirataki noodles and gluten-free soy sauce."

Ingredients

udon noodle
300 g
shrimp (peeled and deveined)
½ stalk
scallion
6 tbsp
soy sauce
2 tsp
honey
2 tsp
black peppercorn
1 tsp
starch (for thickening)
2 tsp
water (for thickening)
2 tsp
mirin
½ stalk
scallion (for garnish)

  • Step 1/9

    • 300 g shrimp (peeled and deveined)
    • ½ stalk scallion

    Slice the shrimps and half of the scallion into 1cm pieces.

  • Step 2/9

    • 6 tbsp soy sauce
    • 2 tsp honey
    • 2 tsp black peppercorn
    • 2 tsp mirin

    Mix the soy sauce, honey, black pepper and mirin.

  • Step 3/9

    • 1 tsp starch (for thickening)
    • 2 tsp water (for thickening)

    Mix the starch and water

  • Step 4/9

    • 2 package udon noodle

    Cook the Udon as specified on the packet

  • Step 5/9

    Preheat some oil in a pan on medium heat and cook the shrimps for 2 minutes.

    Add the soy sauce mixture and the scallion, and cook for 2 minutes.

  • Step 7/9

    Add the corn starch/water mixture and mix well to thicken the sauce.

  • Step 8/9

    Add the udon and mix.

  • Step 9/9

    • ½ stalk scallion (for garnish)

    Plate it and top with thinly sliced scallion.

  • Enjoy your meal!
