  • Step 1/5

Cut the bacon into half inch chunks and then brown in a heavy bottomed pan, I like using my cast-iron Dutch oven. we recently returned from a mini vacation to Alabama where I picked up bacon and several packages of smoked sausage from Conecuh Sausage Co. And I’m using half of the bacon in this recipe so it’s my first time trying it but you can use whatever your favorite baking is.

Once the bacon has browned add the onions, green beans, and garlic and sauté for another 2 to 3 minutes. don’t worry about draining that grease, you want all that delicious flavor.

Add the Red potatoes and then add enough chicken broth to cover. Add in the butter and salt and pepper to taste. Remember bacon can be salty so you might want to give the broth a quick taste and then add your salt accordingly.

  • Step 5/5

Slice up the smoked sausage however you desire and add it into the pot and put the lid back on. At this point you can let it continue to cook on low if you would like but the heat will cook the smoked sausage through and pull the fat out of there adding more pork flavor. I used Conecuh smoked sausage for this as well but feel free to experiment and use your favorite kind.

  • Enjoy your meal!
