Step 1/ 6
- 1½ cups Cooked beans
- 1 cups Beans broth
- ⅛ cup vegetable oil
- pot
In a pot, add oil and beans. Medium/low heat. You can also add chiles, garlic, onion; or simply just the beans. Let them warm up and combine well with the oil.
Step 2/ 6
- potato masher
Once they start to boil, you will work! Reduce the heat to low. Don’t let them fast boil. Now grab your smasher and begging “arm day”to smash them.
Step 3/ 6
All your gonna do is break/smash the beans in circular motion. Little by little. This takes about 5 min continuously smashing. Remember the heat is set in low.
Step 4/ 6
The consistency here is very personal. My fave are half way between refried and soupy. Here you can adjust to your preference. More beans or more caldo.
Step 5/ 6
- cheese (for serving)
- salsa (for serving)
That’s it. Serve your fried beans with queso fresco(I used the feta style from follow your heart) and hot fresh salsa!
Step 6/ 6
This is the classic Mexican breakfast. Beans, chile, birote or tortillas and cheese and coffee. Simply delicious 🤤🔥
Enjoy your meal!
