Have you ever wondered what the best dish in the world actually tastes like?

You might be thinking of a fine steak or handmade pasta, but the answer is much more down-to-earth and wonderfully cozy. We are talking about Vori Vori, a traditional soup from Paraguay that took first place in the latest Taste Atlas ranking. Imagine a golden, rich broth in which fluffy little dumplings made of cornmeal and melting cheese float. This dish actually managed to push the world-famous Pizza Neapolitana into second place and claim the crown as the best dish in the world. It is the ultimate declaration of love to soul food and shows us that true moments of pleasure are often hidden in very simple ingredients.

Meat Mountains and Missing Classics

If you take a look at the rest of the top 10 with us, you will certainly notice that things are quite hearty there. The community seems to have a huge preference for meat, as many of the top spots are occupied by juicy grilled and braised dishes. However, what makes us a little suspicious is that among the 100 best dishes, there is currently not a single classic from the German-speaking world. Neither our beloved Spätzle nor the Wiener Schnitzel could convince the international jury of almost half a million users this time. But chin up, we know best how good our home cooking tastes.

A Ranking with Edge

Of course, with such a big announcement, the question arises as to how objective the whole thing is. The creators of Taste Atlas emphasize that they strictly check each of the over 450,000 ratings to exclude manipulation, but there is recurring criticism of the methodology. Whether Vori Vori is the absolute highlight for each of us remains, of course, a matter of taste. But that's exactly the beauty of cooking and eating: it invites us to discover new things and look beyond our own plates. Do you feel like trying this miracle soup for yourself now?
