Lately there’s been another surge in food trends: Quail eggs. They are back on the menu for many, but there are concerns that should be raised while raising demand for quail eggs. The production path is often not up to par with chicken eggs. 

Why should the demand on quail eggs be approached with caution

Food trends can cause high demands for certain products, and it’s often been observed that such high demands can leave manufacturers or production lines exhausted, and have market shelves suffer the consequences.

In the case of quail eggs, the EU does not have enough guidelines for quail farming. The birds can suffer rough housing conditions, and eggs can not guarantee that they come from birds that have been raised in good conditions. 

The nutrients compared to chicken eggs are also not too different. Quail eggs are technically packing more vitamins and minerals, however, it is not worth the trouble of rising demand. Quails lay around 20 eggs a year, and the conditions may not be the best to obtain the eggs. It’s best to approach quail eggs with uttermost care and not contribute to potential malpractice.
