One of the biggest fast food chains in the world, McDonald’s, is not taking chances when it comes to entering the era of digital fast food experiences. The brand has been known to try out AI integrated ordering systems in the past, but now a bigger plan is apparently in the works. 

The exciting developments include, but are not limited to; AI assisted drive throughs and deep friers, maintenance systems on appliances, and cloud edge assistance

McDonald’s and Google Cloud

The new partnership between Google Cloud and McDonald’s will be making these fast-food advancements easier and smoother. Specifically, the cloud edge computing technologies are planned to assist in in-store processes at McDonald’s.

There will be sensors installed in deep friers, the ever broken flurry machines and more to assess malfunctions and maintenance periods to ensure smooth operations.

Local McDonald’s will benefit from advanced AI

One of the many benefits of these advancements will be about having local McDonald’s stores run their operations independently without the need for a strong connection to remote cloud servers. This means the consumer data can be analyzed locally and fast. It’s an essential part of a plan to lower the costs for the fast food stores. 

Especially with McDonald’s target group being lower income families, the company is taking these measures to keep up with rising prices and drops in customer numbers from 2024. The aim is to save up from these data based costs to offer the same quality, with reasonable prices to more customers in the next few years.
