Cannabis Found in Haribo Gummies – Police Launch Investigation
Haribo recalls "Happy Cola F!ZZ" after health complaints
A surprising discovery in the Netherlands has caused a stir: traces of cannabis have been found in several bags of Haribo’s popular "Happy Cola F!ZZ" gummies. Police are now investigating how the substance ended up in the candy.
Gummy classic causes health concerns
According to the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), multiple people — including children — reported health issues such as dizziness after consuming the affected products. In response, Haribo issued a precautionary recall of the entire batch.
Mysterious cannabis contamination
Although cannabis was only confirmed in three individual bags so far, authorities are strongly warning against consuming the product. “Cannabis was found in the cola-bottle-shaped gummies,” an NVWA spokesperson told AFP. Police are currently investigating how the contamination occurred.
Haribo calls it a serious incident
The confectionery company responded with an official safety notice. “The safety of our consumers is our top priority,” said Patrick Tax, Haribo’s Vice President of Marketing. While the number of cases appears limited, the company is working closely with authorities to identify the source of the contamination.
"Happy Cola" has been a staple in Haribo’s product line for decades. How the cannabis ended up in the sweets remains unclear — but the authorities’ message is clear: do not eat these gummies.
