  • The Salad Situation

With ready-to-go salad in the fridge, there’s no excuses not to eat your greens. Don’t bother with the prepared salads from the supermarket—it’s cheaper and more environmentally friendly to prep the lettuce heads yourself!

  • Clean & Dry

To clean the salad, simply cut off the stem and pick off the leaves. You can also eat the stem—though it may be necessary to peel it and then cut it into fine slices to do so. Then, it’s time to clean the lettuce. In a large bowl or a clean kitchen sink, place the leaves in a cold water bath, making sure they are fulling submerged. Wait for approx. 1 – 2 min. to let the dirt and fine sand sink to the bottom. Remove salad and dry using a salad spinner or wrap in a clean towel and spin until dry (best done outside!).

  • Store

If you won’t use the salad immediately, keep chopped or whole leaves in an air tight container layered with paper towels. The salad should stay fresh for 3 – 5 days.

  • Enjoy your meal!
