We take them for granted, as, thanks to greenhouse production, they are available year-round. However underestimated, tomatoes are the secret superheroes of our diets. We eat them fresh as part of salads or as snacks, grilled or fried for breakfast and dinner, canned and cooked in soups and sauces. Most people would consider them culinary vegetables, but tomatoes are actually low-sugar fruits, and they are currently in season!
