Grandma's Greek Halva with pistachios and cardamom
pot, nonstick pan, whisk, loaf pan
- 500 l water
- 225 g brown sugar
- 1½ cloves cardamom pods
- ½ cinnamon stick
- 1 g vanilla sugar
- 1½ slices orange peels
Fist step is to prepare the syrup. In my opinion this is the most important step, because the syrup has all the aromas and flavours. Add water in a pot and add the all the ingredients. boil for approximately 10 min. Take the pot aside. Remove the Orange peels, cardamom cloves and cinnamon stick from the pot.
- 100 ml olive oil
- nonstick pan
Heat olive oil in a nonstick pan.
- 250 g semolina
Add semolina and cook for approximately 5-7 min until golden. Stir frequently.
- 25 g chopped pistachios
- orange zest
Add pistachios and orange zest. Stir for 2 min.
- 500 ml golden syrup
Add little bit of syrup and stir frequently. Use this method until all the syrup is added. Do not forget to stir!!! After the syrup is added let it rest aside for 1 min.
- loaf pan
Add the mixture to a cake pan. Let it cool for a few our.
Top with ground cinnamon. Enjoy😁😁😁!!!
